Presenting the Class of 2013 Georgetown University Department of Performing Arts’ senior theater thesis performance projects is wanderland, a 2-hour long production that brings together Alice Cash‘s Golden Shards and my Chiaroscuro in separate acts. Both shows explore questions of identity, with Cash’s original written play delving deep into the world of Charles Dodgson—a.k.a. Lewis Carroll—and his controversial relationship with Alice Liddell (the girl who inspired Alice, of Alice in Wonderland), and my play navigating the complex ambiguity of a multi-cultural identity. The poster design combines respective reference materials for both plays—the first, an iconic photograph of the young Alice Liddell (taken by Carroll himself), and the second, an ink drawing I did as a study into the pattern design of the gas mask I was to don for Chiaroscuro.
