Written by Alan Bennett, The History Boys investigates the complex nature of education it accompanies the coming-of-age stories of several “sixth-form” students (the equivalent of the last two years of high school in the US) and their teachers as they all strive to “get into Oxbridge” (Oxford and Cambridge). In addition to graphic designer, I was also the scenic designer for Mask & Bauble Dramatic Society‘s 2012 production of the play. The set was in an alley format, with rooms located opposite one another on individual platforms across the stage. The empty space in-between served a range of functions, including as a physical classroom and the outside of the school building.
